derekod Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 The Front Wipers suddenly stopped working on my 2002 MKII Galaxy, and it was due to the nut securing the spindle to the wiper motor loosening. I have tightened up the nut while the wipers are parked but they are either hitting each other at the park position. What is the correct procedure and aligment for setting the link back on to the motor? I presumed it would have been to let the motor park itself while the linkage was disconnected from the motor and just tighten up. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 On it's own the link on the motor coming loose will not cause the wipers to hit one another, this is either wear in the linkage, a seizing spindle, or a wiper arm nut loose. Quote
daddyfixit Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 loosen the nuts on the spindles (17mm ??) so the arms are loose on the splines. press the screenwash to get the wipers to operate a few sweeps and let them park, now re-arrange the wipers so they are at bottom of screen and re-tighten the 17mm spindle nuts.
